According to Mexican popular tradition, the origins of authentic Mexican street food and the burrito, trace back to Juan Mendez. Mendez wrapped warm, flavourful foods in tortillas and sold them from his donkey. The word burrito, meaning little donkey in Spanish, was inspired by this humble beginning. His creations quickly gained popularity and soon people were seeking out “the food of the burrito“.
Our mission is to pick up where Mendez started and carry on that tradition with our modern “donkey” and bigger pots! The mission: Cook consistently high-quality, healthy and authentic Mexican food. Great flavour is of utmost importance, so everything is prepared fresh and with a love for great food. We blend all our own spice mixes, fresh salsas and hot sauces, just as Mendez would have. Our food is memorable for its use of traditional recipes, simple preparation, clean, crisp flavours and rustic, uncomplicated presentation.
Each of our recipes have been refined over the last 25 years.
