At Teabag Chihuahua, authentic Mexican food is the foundation of everything we do. We’re passionate about cooking tasty, uncomplicated and wholesome dishes using traditional recipes, fresh ingredients and bold, clean flavours. With extensive experience across festivals, outdoor events, weddings, themed parties, family occasions and corporate events, we bring a relaxed, professional approach to catering that’s built on quality, reliability, confidence, consistency and a genuine love of great food.

Our story began with a simple idea, which was inspired in the USA and brought to life here in the UK. What began as a part-time job serving Mexican food in Cape Cod, Massachusetts crossed the Atlantic and found its home in England in 2001. We’ve spent more than two decades refining our operation and have been delivering fantastic Mexican catering for celebrations of every size ever since.

We cover all events from intimate private parties & formal weddings to large-scale festivals serving tens of thousands of guests.
Whatever the setting, our focus has always been the same: great food, served well, with care and consistency.

Meet the core team!

Henry Barbour (left) is the founder of Teabag Chihuahua, who had the vision of offering quality mobile Mexican food across the UK. Ben (right) as our first Teabag Chihuahua Franchisee, is operationally leading the mission to make this a reality. Between us, we take the vision and our mission and create great Mexican food for thousands of customers, hundreds of clients and our numerous partners at events across the UK each year.

We’re both passionate about great food, we love cooking and most importantly creating meaningful customer and staff relationships through tasty Mexican meals, wholesome work and travel.

Every item on our menu reflects the standard, care and pride we put into our work. We’ve refined our skills through hundreds of events to deliver food that’s fast, consistent and uncompromising in quality.

Event Catering demands the highest standards.

That’s why we’ve worked hard to earn a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) with the Food Standards Agency. We’ve proudly maintained this exceptional rating throughout our 24 years of trade. Reading Borough Council even awarded us both the Gold and Bronze medals for demonstrating an “outstanding level of food safety in catering at outdoor events”.

The environment is important to us and that’s why we use only biodegradable or recyclable dishes and cutlery. We also source available fair-trade, locally grown, and organic products.

Our operation is fully compliant with all fire, gas, electrical, health and safety, and hygiene regulations. Certificates are available electronically or by post.

We are a proud member of the Nationwide Caterers Association

For over 30 years, the Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS) has supported independent food and drink businesses – from cafés, pubs and restaurants to street food traders and mobile caterers.

We have collaborated with NCASS on multiple occasions, providing support on projects and contributing to the development of professional standards within the industry.

That’s why we use the NCASS food safety and training system to ensure that we’re always compliant with the latest in food safety from HACCP to Allergens and everything in between. All our staff are trained to a minimum of Level 2 in food hygiene. Our managers all hold Level 3 certificates in Food Hygiene.
